Made in Zinapécuaro, Michoacán, this piece is shaped from natural clay, hand-burnished with river stones, and fired using wood to achieve its smooth finish and dark hue. The dotted pattern is created using the cerámica al negativo (negative imprint) method. After the first firing, the bowl is cooled, painted with mineral-based pigments, and returned to the kiln for a final smoke firing, which enhances the contrast and locks in the design.
