Piña Majestuosa 20" Decorative Pineapple Sculpture
Piña Majestuosa 20" Decorative Pineapple Sculpture Handmade in San José de Gracia, Tangancícuaro, Michoacán.
This sculptural piña vidriada is a masterwork of Michoacán’s barro vidriado tradition. Handcrafted in San José de Gracia, the process behind this piece is as striking as the pineapple itself. The clay is milled, sifted into a fine powder, then slowly rehydrated and kneaded until it reaches the perfect consistency. Once shaped, every scale and detail is pressed by hand with delicate molds before the entire piece is glazed and fired.
Its body features an intense hue with expressive multicolor splashes, sealed with a glossy finish that reflects light and movement. The hand-carved leaves and dense texture bring dramatic dimension to this one-of-a-kind sculpture. In Purépecha communities and beyond, pineapples are often offered as a symbol of abundance, prosperity, and warm hospitality, making this the kind of piece that transforms a space while carrying meaning.
