This glazed ceramic pineapple was handmade in San José de Gracia, Michoacán, a Purépecha town known for perfecting the art of piñas vidriadas. Shaped from locally sourced clay and tepetate, this piece features hundreds of hand-applied “lengüitas” or clay scales that create its signature texture. Each leaf on the crown is individually shaped and attached, then glazed in a classic tone that contrasts beautifully with the wide body.

The piña’s bright shine is achieved through a second high-temperature firing after glazing, a process that speaks to generations of knowledge and care.
