Made in San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca, this vase is crafted from barro negro, a clay known worldwide for turning deep black through a traditional firing process that uses smoke and a sealed, oxygen‑free kiln. No dyes or colorants are added. The color and soft sheen come entirely from the firing itself. The carved openings are added by hand once the form is shaped, making each piece slightly different. It works beautifully as a decorative object, with dry branches, or simply on its own as a sculptural accent.
