Barro Negro Floral Filigrana Pitcher
Barro Negro Flowers Pitcher Handmade in San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca
This small barro negro pitcher was handmade in San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca, and features delicate floral appliqués, called filigrana, sculpted directly onto its curved body. With its dark, burnished finish and soft pouring lip, it’s a beautiful piece of functional Mexican folk art.
Each flower is hand-modeled without the use of molds, giving the pitcher a tactile, dimensional quality that reflects the slow artistry of Oaxaca’s black clay tradition. The deep color comes from a centuries-old firing technique in underground ovens without oxygen, which also gives the clay its sheen. While perfect for pouring juices or holding table flowers, it’s just as special as a shelf accent or kitchen gift that reflects Mexico’s artisanal heritage.
- Handmade in San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca, birthplace to famous black clay.
- Made of world renowned barro negro (black clay), which acquires its pitch back color from its ancestral baking process.
- Raised floral appliqué design, no molds used
- Burnished finish; traditional firing technique
- Ideal gift for hosts or fans of Mexican crafts
- APPROXIMATE MEASUREMENTS:
6" tall x 4" diameter.
Holds 22 fl oz; great for table use or decor
