It's difficult to put into words how much we love these mugs! These barro negro, or black clay, Heart mugs will be the talk of your morning coffee-time routine. Made of world-renowned barro negro, or black clay from Oaxaca. Each piece is shaped by hand and baked in an underground wood fire of thick black smoke which gives them their special color, so each piece not only glows with rich black color but is also one of the most sought-after pottery styles in all Mexico.

• No glaze or dyes are used, the clay acquires its black color from the special mud in Coyotepec and the smoke used when baked.
• Handmade: Each piece is one of a kind as no molds or potter's wheels are used when making these special cups.

• MEASUREMENTS:
  Each cup is approximately 5" in diameter x 2" tall
  Holds approximately 1 cup, 12 fl. oz. 
  
• CARE: Not microwave or dishwasher safe. Handwash and let it fully dry before next use. Barro Negro is baked at low temperatures and unglazed, which makes it prone to absorbing some odors, especially as we ship them unwashed. Artisans recommend washing several times before first use to eliminate debris from the oven. If you find the smell persists, artisans recommend soaking it overnight in warm water or milk and/or placing it in an airtight container covered in coffee beans.
